About & History
Since April 4th, 2022, the FFPD has had fully paid Emergency Medical Services (EMS) staff in the district. Previously, our EMS operations relied exclusively on volunteer efforts. The district recognized a need for full-time emergency services, and a mil levy was passed to provide the funding for these crews.
Today, the Florence Fire Protection District (FFPD) has two fully staffed ambulances within the district 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. There is one ambulance located in Florence at Station 1 and one located in Penrose at Station 2. Each unit is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, ensuring our crews have the tools necessary to deliver exceptional care to both our community members and visitors. On average, these ambulances respond to over 1,000 calls annually.
In our commitment to excellence and continuous improvement, FFPD EMS offers monthly in-house training sessions conducted by our experienced district paramedics. Additionally, our personnel have access to on-demand training programs, ensuring that all staff remain current with the latest EMS practices and guidelines.
